About the Author
Historian Thomas D. "Tom" Perry has written or published over forty books about regional history along the Virginia and North Carolina border at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Born in Mount Airy, Surry County, North Carolina, Perry grew up in Ararat, Patrick County, Virginia, just a few miles from the birthplace of Civil War General J. E. B. Stuart.
