In the winter of 1968, Cindy Woodson, is a traditional homemaker, barely coping with two-year-old twins, the demands of her husband and a rigorous student schedule. Although stressed to her limit, her life is complete. She is thrown into crisis with an unwanted pregnancy. Cindy knows she must choose. Keep the unborn child or her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She can't have both. As she struggles with the decision, conflicts arise and deepen. Her husband welcomes another child. Her religious mother and older sister pressure her with their views, while her younger sister urges her to consider another idea. Pressure builds until Cindy's life is threatened.
