Breaking Trust: A collection of three African plays

Jedidah Olayinka Adlyn Johnson

Breaking Trust: A Collection of Three African Plays by Jedidiah Olayinka Adlyn Johnson is a compelling exploration of resilience, betrayal, and the unyielding spirit of African women. Through three gripping plays, Jedidah delves into societal expectations, cultural traditions, and the struggles of women who defy the status quo. In Garden of Eden, a young girl named Sande faces darkness and stigma as her family falls prey to a manipulative religious leader, forcing her and her mother to confront the true nature of evil. If Hearts Could Speak follows Adama, a bold young woman whose voice sets her apart, as she navigates tradition and modernity, leading to a betrayal that strains her relationship with her sister Fatu-until forgiveness becomes their only path forward. In Miss Grammar, a successful businesswoman returns to her village to challenge gender bias and entrenched traditions, grappling with loneliness and the cost of ambition. With emotional depth, sharp wit, and unflinching honesty, Breaking Trust celebrates the strength and resilience of women while urging readers to question societal norms and embrace change. This collection is a powerful testament to the transformative power of storytelling.
