Butterfly Flutter Bye

Matthew Hawk

Dedicated to the beautiful souls who lost their butterfly.

Butterfly Flutter Bye is a gentle book on grieving for parents who lost a child, or for children who lost a parent, a sibling, or other loved one. While this book may seem silly and lighthearted on the surface and enjoyable to everyone who reads it, every line and every picture were carefully crafted with depth, compassion, and rich symbolic meaning to tell the full story from multiple angles.

Author Matthew Hawk painfully paints the story so well with words on helping children (and parents) to grieve through their loss in a very simplistic, rhyming, symbolic storyline. If you are a parent with a child who is grieving, you're encouraged to read the story with your little one, and ask them to describe what they feel about each picture and each line. The story was designed to help children open up and express their grief.

For those who haven't experienced loss, this book on bereavement is crafted well enough to be an enjoyable silly book on butterflies who sometimes say goodbye.

About the Author

Hawk, Matthew: - Matthew Hawk simply refuses to grow up. A forever fan of childhood, the artistic poet writes silly stories to make kids laugh and explore. Working with children and families in a medical crisis, Hawk felt a need to lift these children up and bring some silliness to their difficult day. This need led to the birth of the Silly Book Series! Matthew Hawk earned his MFA in Creative Writing from Full Sail University and graduated valedictorian. When he is not writing children's books, he writes historical fiction, screenplays, and songs on his guitar.
