About the Author

Sweitzer, Steve: - I grew up on a farm and ranch in Audrain County, Missouri. This experience had a profound impact on my creative life. Living in the country requires developing skills quite different from those needed for the city. With slim profit margins, there are nobudgets to hire help, so you must do the work yourself. When newborn calves are sick, you treat them using methods usually reserved for a veterinarian. When the tractor needs servicing, you learn to be a mechanic. When growing crops, you must become an agronomist; to build a barn, you must master the ways of a carpenter. My father taught me these things, and I'm forever grateful. I apply these same principles to my creative pursuits. They came in handy during my advertising career as an art director, writer, and creative director, which led to awards and recognition from Cannes, One Show, and the Emmys. I learned how to create things using any medium. I write, paint, draw, design, direct, and photograph my concepts, so when ideas call to me, I use any method necessary to capture them. Most of my work is private, but I share the results on select projects, hence this book. It's a two-year photo journey around the world that uncovers the magic of our planet. It also serves as a record of what we stand to lose if we become complacent instead of taking action to help each other, the Earth, and all living things. Nature has a lot to say. If only we would listen.
