Conversations with a Half-Melted Tub of Ice Cream at 3 AM

Debarchita Sinha

Conversations with A Half-Melted Tub of Ice Cream at 3 AM is a chronicle of survival, not as a triumph, but as sheer defiance. Written before, during, and after an unexpected medical crisis that left the author paralysed, these 21 poems navigate trauma, resilience, and the fragile victories of recovery. They do not offer easy inspiration but instead hold space for raw, unvarnished truth, the body reclaiming itself, the weight of quiet battles, and the silence of 3 AM. If these words make the darkness feel a little less lonely, then perhaps that is enough.

About the Author

Sinha, Debarchita: - Debarchita Sinha is a dreamer first, a poet perhaps, and a storyteller. She is currently pursuing a doctoral fellowship in HRM from XLRI Jamshedpur and is a gold medalist in philosophy from Presidency University, Kolkata. With nearly four years of grassroots experience in the rural development sector, she has seen life up close, in its beauty and brutality. This collection of 21 poems marks her literary debut, born from a battle with a catastrophic illness. Through vulnerability and resilience, she writes about what it means to fight, to survive, and, sometimes, to outwit Death himself.
