About the Author

Deja M. Cromartie is a communications strategist, storyteller, and advocate for Black culture, identity, and liberation. Born on June 19th-Juneteenth-Deja has always carried a personal connection to the holiday. She was inspired to write Deja's First Juneteenth to help young readers explore the rich history and beauty of their heritage.

Deja lives in Brooklyn, New York, and this is her debut children's book.
