Duncan Ferguson: The Biography

Df Press

Duncan Cowan Ferguson, born on December 27, 1971, is a former Scottish footballer turned coach. Over the course of his career, Ferguson gained recognition for both his powerful playing style and his eventual role as a football manager. He most recently managed Inverness Caledonian Thistle in Scotland's League One, though his tenure ended in October 2024 when the club entered administration.

Ferguson began his football journey with Dundee United in 1990, before moving to Rangers in 1993 for a British transfer record at the time. After a brief spell in Scotland, he moved to England in 1994, joining Everton, where he would spend much of his career. His time at Everton was marked by both highs, including winning the 1995 FA Cup, and lows, with frequent injuries and a controversial on-field assault leading to a prison sentence. Ferguson also had stints at Newcastle United, returning to Everton before retiring in 2006.
