My Call My Thorn His Grace

Ray Cromer

After surviving a near-fatal heart attack on Mother's Day 2022, a longtime minister was told by doctors he was a walking miracle. That experience-and a lifetime of spiritual wrestling-led to the creation of My Call, My Thorn, His Grace.

Blending personal testimony with biblical reflection, the book draws from a sermon preached decades earlier on Paul's "thorn in the flesh," revealing how one man's darkest seasons became the ground for transformation and grace. With unflinching honesty, the author recounts years of running from God's call, the guilt that lingered even after surrender, and the redemptive power of sharing one's story.

Ideal for Bible study groups, personal growth, or spiritual outreach, this book invites readers at all stages of faith to reflect on how God can use even a sinful past for His glory.

About the Author

Cromer, Ray: -

Ray Cromer grew up in a Southern Baptist Church, was married in the Methodist Church, and later answered his call to preach in the Church of the Nazarene. He's pastored in the Nazarene Church, Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and a non-denominational church for years while working a full-time, secular job. He believes that no matter where you worship, it's not about your church name or denomination-but about Jesus Christ. Jesus alone is Ray's sound doctrine and, as the Apostle Paul said, he also "preach[es] Christ crucified." The Lord is number one in Ray's life, and he'll serve and follow Him wherever He chooses to send him.

At home Ray has a wonderful, faithful wife, two sons, a daughter, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, being outdoors, and spending time with God's family. He's spent the last year writing My Call, My Thorn, His Grace and seeking God's will in his life. Ray thanks Dr. Russel Branstetter, his former District Superintendent with the Church of the Nazarene, for his guidance and support.
