A stranger named Vincent emerges from a hole in the earth. He is a hellhound, bred and trained for one purpose: guarding the Underworld's prisoners. At least, until he lets one escape.

Disgraced, he is sent to recover the fugitive, disguised as an ordinary college student. But the mortal world holds its own secrets. Mysterious murders plague the school. Supernatural creatures hide in plain sight. And the fugitive has his own plan-one that may spell doom for both Hell and earth.

To stop it, Vincent must team up with others like him that walk the line between light and shadow. The best of them is monster hunter and football star Henry Wellfellow. Kind and charismatic, he is beloved by all; and yet he takes an interest in Vincent, accepting him in a way no one has before.

But Vincent has demons-literally. He can't fall for the hero of the story. He doesn't belong in this new world he has come to love. And yet, he may be the only one who can stop its destruction. But will the mortal world-and Henry-forgive him for what he will have to do to save it?
