The Second World War and its aftermath shattered my family and the context in which we lived. Since then, I have been searching the graveyard of my memories for the fragments that are me and tried to reassemble them into a soul-no longer a stranger to myself. This psycho-spiritual journey through a troubled world has become my home. I have learned that the goals of my life are: to find meaning in it; to try to know that which is larger than me; to give to the world what is uniquely mine to give; and, at the end of my life, to value what this journey was about. The suffering of the world has also made me a poet and led to a powerful engagement with our predicament. Poets are people who could take the easier path but do not. They resist and are sometimes dangerous because to them life is sacred. They embrace anguish yet insist this must change. Soul's Journey is a collection of new and earlier poems arranged to tell the story of my inner life lived at a significant turning point in human history. Writing this account has been an act of profound remembering and healing. Gregory Sass, - Author
