Stacie Ramey was born the third and youngest child in her family and spent most of her childhood in Crofton, MD, where she had easy access to Washington DC, Annapolis, and Baltimore. She spent countless weekends in DC visiting the Hirschhorn Museum and the Smithsonian Museums or in
Baltimore at the Inner Harbor. She thought it would be fantastic to go to school on the beach, so she went to the University of Florida. She should have checked a map. But soon she discovered college football (Go Gators!). She graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Master of Science degree in speech pathology in 1989 and then moved back to Gainesville, FL, where she married her husband. She and her husband had three children and countless rescue dogs. In 2018, she got her MFA in creative writing from Spalding University. Now, she lives with her husband in Wellington, Florida, which is a little village where wild parrots congregate and one must dodge golf carts on morning walks.
