Ethan is in deep. He's also a bit of an asshole. It doesn't help that his Superpower rewards him for being that way, but it would be hard, even for him, to blame it all on his powers.

Hiding among the Humans is simple enough, as long as he doesn't do something stupid, like getting another power and flaunting it in public. Naturally, as soon as he does, everyone wants a piece of him, and not in a good way. Left with only bad options, he has to choose who to pin his hopes of a future on. As a great man once said, 'fake it 'til you make it' and, to his growing surprise, it actually starts to work.

Unfortunately, Supers are just people with powers. They're as messed up as everyone else, only with egos the size of planets and the power to level a city block. So when the world begins to unravel, and tension between factions escalates, it pretty much guarantees to plunge them all toward disaster.
