The Last Confession of Sullivan Moore tells that story, the tale of a once-acclaimed writer-turned recluse who, in the last year of his life, reveals the mistakes and missteps he has taken over the course of decades. However, the book is more than a recitation of the great man's successes and failures, noble deeds and reprehensible acts, times when he rose to great heights and occasions when he fell into a trough of guilt-ridden despair. It is also a story within a story, that of the narrator, who, during the course of his time with Sullivan Moore begins to see parallels to his own life and attempts to determine how to live in a better way, one that will allow him to achieve success and contentment and not cause harm to others.
