Which must we follow - The Law of Moses or the Law of Messiah? A multitude of false doctrines are being taught in churches and Messianic Jewish groups today that impede, block, and spiritually frustrate believers in their growth in Messiah Yeshua, our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ. The problem comes when believers who have skewed biblical doctrine invent new, corrupted doctrines to suit their own biases and then become "spiritual" leaders. The issue of Tradition versus Faith in God's promises was controversial in Jesus' time and is well-documented.Most of the New Testament reveals the conflict between the two interpretations. One such area is the teaching that believers must be Torah keepers, whether Jewish or Gentile, to please God and work out their salvation. Is this teaching biblical, or are such teachings obstructing believers from their walk in Messiah and from being yielded to the Rauch Ha-Kodesh? The only way to know for sure is to carefully study the Bible from God's perspective. What does the Author say about this particular doctrine in His Word? The answer is spread throughout both the Old Testament Scriptures and New Covenant Gospels and Epistles. Let's take a look!
As the author emphatically states, "It is impossible to keep Torah today!" He counters this with Scripture clearly showing that the Body of Messiah is under Messiah's Law rather than Moses' Law .... Our hope is that [believers in the Messianic Jewish] movement will read it with an open heart and see the truth of God's Word that all believers of Yeshua are now found in the New Covenant under God's grace living a life of faith by the Spirit's power. - Dr. Richard Hill, Messianic Pastor of Beth Yeshua Messianic Congregation, Las Vegas, NV
As a Jewish believer in Messiah Jesus, and having led a Messianic Congregation which was sound in doctrine, I know that this book is needed. Reading through the manuscript gives me hope that many who are uncertain about Law vs. Grace will see the overwhelming evidence that we come into the family of God through faith alone, and continue in that family by God's grace alone. This book is a packed spiritual meal.Enjoy! - Mottel Baleston, Messianic Jewish Teacher
The Hebrew Roots Movement has [unfortunately] made significant in-roads into both the Messianic Movement and Evangelical Christianity in particular. In every place, its teaching of Torah Observance as a means to the believer's sanctification, or to simply being "right with God," has brought confusion and division within the greater Body of Messiah. It is evident that such results indicate there is something wrong with this teaching, but a clear and biblical explanation has been difficult to find.John Metzger has given us not only a sound critique of the problems but also the correction in a proper understanding of the relationship of the Mosaic Covenant with the New Covenant and a thorough study of its Law of Messiah. For everyone who has sought an answer to the question of keeping the Law as a believer in Yeshua, this book is a must! - Randall Price, Ph.D., President, World of the Bible Ministries
...Individual believers are stymied in their spiritual growth when they are taught they are saved by faith alone in Jesus Christ but must live the Christian life by Torah observance. This book is an excellent tool for equipping pastors and individual believers to understand the issue and to refute the errors of this false teaching.I highly recommend this book. - Donnie Preslar, Grace Bible Church, Charlotte, NC
The question of law, and its proper place within the Judeo-Christian tradition, certainly dates to the First Century ... What are we to do with this "new thing" that the Jewish Messiah established, and what does it mean for covenant obedience? ... The countless hours of research put into this book have resulted in a biblical study aide that will guide its reader in better grasping the Torah of Messiah, and the blessed covenant that Yeshua established in His blood. - John Myle, Senior Pastor, Fellowship Chapel, Jarrettsville, MD
