The Armstrong family has carried The Need for generations. The Armstrongs are an obscenely rich, glamorous...and secretly cannibalistic Upper East Side family. That's the Armstrongs. And to them, The Need is a gift. The Need is power.

Their son marries Talia, a woman who was born with the Need, but not wealth and power. When her husband dies under mysterious circumstances--that may have something to do with his family--Talia is determined to protect her children, and goes on the run with them, moving from town to town. But her daughter, Rosie, is a normal teenaged girl who just wants a normal life...and her son, Sam, was born with the Need and is consumed by it.

Meanwhile, Vera Armstrong, the family's vindictive matriarch, will do anything to continue the Armstrong legacy...even if she is the one responsible for its destruction.
