About the Author

L. Frank Baum (1856-1919), was a journalist and author of dozens of children's books. His original Wizard of Oz, published in 1900, is today recognized as a modern fairy tale set in Midwest America. Artist and caricaturist W. W. Denslow (1856-1915) wrote and illustrated a number of books for children but is best known for his work on Baum's Oz series.
