This Is Not a Sad Book (But It's Ok to Feel Sad): A Guide to Grief, Loss and Getting Through Hard Times

Elizabeth Vercoe

This Is Not A Sad Book is truly not a sad book!

It's actually a practical, compassionate guide full of strategies and ideas to support yourself or someone else through grief, loss and hard times.

In some parts you might even find yourself smiling.

Most importantly of all - the stories, tips and advice in these pages are a reminder that even in our darkest hours, there is a way through.

A Children's Book Council of Australia Honour Book

About the Author

Liz lives in Melbourne with her partner and whichever adult offspring are in town. Her life involves creative practice, volunteering, walking the dog (her favourite child according to the kids), university research work, writing for Kids' Book Review and believing passionately in the power of community, art and stories to facilitate both fun and healing.

Grace is an illustrator based in Melbourne. She is the youngest of four mostly red-headed siblings who grew up in a mud brick house surrounded by music, gum trees and plenty of drawing. Her love of illustration started from an early age and Grace is eternally grateful to her parents who didn't mind when she used walls or furniture as a canvas. Grace works in a contemporary art gallery while working on picture books, exhibitions, commissioned art and workshops. She loves bush walks, reading in the sun and making something delicious to eat with her partner like pasta or a giant cookie.
