Who are you?
Are you your name? Your job title? Your political affiliation? Your successes and failures?
What is your true nature?
Unbecoming Ourselves follows Heather Schenck, in her honest and raw struggle with self-image and depression which was exacerbated by the trials she faced as a nurse and mother during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the pain and darkness, Schenck discovers her liberation from unskillful attachments to labels with teachings from secular Buddhism.
Buddhist philosophy illuminates our true nature to be more spacious and vast than many of us have ever dreamed. Once we begin to dismantle our sense of self and put these teachings into practice, we will discover the joy and freedom that arise out of our true nature.
