Vigilante: A Major Ariane Kedros Novel

Laura E. Reeve

NOTHING GOES UNPUNISHED

To her partners at Aether Exploration, Ariane Kedros is the daring pilot of their prospecting ship. She is also a reserve major in the Consortium of Autonomous Worlds who accepts mysterious assignments to fulfill her duty.

To the Terran League, she is a war criminal. Fifteen years ago, she piloted a ship on a mission that obliterated an entire solar system. Those involved in the incident were given new identities and lives in order to protect them from retribution-though no new face or name can wash away the guilt Ariane feels, or chase away her demons.

Amidst an uneasy peace between the Autonomists and Terrans, Ariane and her business partner, Matthew Journey, have discovered alien ruins in system G-145. But their discovery has drawn the interest of high stakes players from every corner of the universe, including that of the leader of a rogue Terran sect. Ariane must find a way to stop him, before they all become ancient history.

After the Air Force, she spent sixteen years as a software developer. She currently lives near Colorado Springs, CO with her scientific advisor and a Shiba Inu who runs the household. Praise for this book

When terrorists arrive with a stolen temporal-distortion bomb, seeking vengeance for perceived wrongs of the past, alliances form and shift as the tension mounts. Reeve immediately immerses the reader in her universe's vernacular, acronyms and backstory, an approach most rewarding to those who are versed in learning from context. (Partial, from Publisher's Weekly)

Vigilante is a great gritty adventure, so much so that you can almost feel the dirt coming off the pages. It manages to come across as a mix of noir and SF genres, and seems to mirror our times, which is something the best fiction accomplishes. (Partial, from Dorkgasm)

Laura E. Reeve has again written a riveting story filled with action and betrayal. The characters are complex, the world building first rate and the plot filled with unexpected twists and turns. Vigilante is science fiction space opera at its best. (Partial, from Mixed Book Bag)

I admire how Reeve was able to split the main characters into three separate groups, each facing its own obstacles. She intertwines their stories brilliantly, tying up loose ends nicely to create a heart-stopping conclusion. It's like getting three exciting plot lines for the price of one...
