Why do alcoholics relapse? Relapse is always heart-breaking. The author's research, along with 34 years of Twelve-step meetings, gave rise to the Guardienne Concept, which answers the question. It also sheds light on bipolar disorder, deja vu, DID, and other conditions. As a start, the concept establishes that alcoholism is a genetic anomaly, not a physical defect, moral failure, lack of will power, or disease. Further studies may yield improved clinical procedures in the future, based on the Guardienne Concept.
