It affirms the efficacy of prayers and liturgies for the deceased, citing historical teachings that support this practice. However, it refutes the idea of a purifying fire or punishment as a means of redemption, instead proposing that souls may experience purification through fear or the torment of conscience. The text ultimately emphasizes God's mercy and the significance of human actions in aiding the departed.
