@_DemiWilton I recently enjoyed both of Omar El Akkad’s novels: American War and What Strange Paradise. Not fiction but I thought Julietta Singh’s memoir The Breaks was stunning. It’s also an interesting one to read as a parent: it’s addressed to her daughter (and made me think of mine)

@RebeccaMacklin_ I’d second all the recs below and also add Ibtisam Azem’s The Book of Disappearance. Saleem Haddad (who has a story in Pal +100) wrote a great essay on it for the baffler, writing about it in terms of memory, which I think is key when thinking about Palestinian speculative fic.
