The Breaks
Julietta Singh
@_DemiWilton I recently enjoyed both of Omar El Akkad’s novels: American War and What Strange Paradise. Not fiction but I thought Julietta Singh’s memoir The Breaks was stunning. It’s also an interesting one to read as a parent: it’s addressed to her daughter (and made me think of mine)

Please, Baby, Please
Spike Lee
@lottelydia Spike and Tonya Lee’s Please, Baby, Please is good fun (both my one-year-old and three-year-old love it). Some of the illustrations have an NYC vibe too.

The Book of Disappearance
Ibtisam Azem
