代 序

顾名思义,三行诗是由三行文字组成的微诗。那么,一首诗短到只有三行,我们为什么要如此青睐它呢?这是因为,三行诗体积虽小,但它的表现力一点也不亚于非三行诗,甚至更具独到的优势,更具强大的感染力。

它的优势在于:书写方便,出稿速度快。由于它体积小,我们躺着、站着、走着,甚至一边干活一边就可以在脑子里创作。创作完后,在方便的时候转写在纸上或者输入电脑、手机。因此,我们一有所感,就可以立即进行创作,不必耽搁。

三行诗虽然因为微小而书写方便,出稿速度快,但它并不缺乏完整性。从叙述角度看,"三"最具完整性,任何鸿篇巨著,无论多长,都只包括"开头,中间,结尾"三个部分。这三个部分,三行诗里各行正好胜任一个,完全可以全部涵盖。从物理角度看,"三"最具稳定性,三脚架、古代酒杯"爵"或者大鼎,之所以采用三只脚,就是因为它的这个稳定性。三行诗也同样具有这样的稳定性。

三行诗虽然书写方便,出稿速度快,但作品的感染力并不亚于非微诗。用三行诗,我们同样可以表现重大的题材、深刻的内涵、隽永的意境、萦绕的气氛、持久的韵味。用三行诗,我们同样可以象非微诗那样表现历史、文化、哲学等方面的重大题材;同样可以象非微诗那样表现人生,生活,爱情等方面的深刻内涵;同样可以象非微诗那样造就高山,流水,旷野等方面的隽永意境;同样可以象非微诗那样营造喜庆、哀伤、严肃、诙谐等气氛;同样可以象非微诗那样给出甜美、淡雅、舒心等韵味。

三行诗不但能象非微诗那样具有感染力,它甚至有过之而无不及。这是因为,非微诗由于文字长,用词多,作品的效果常常会互相抵消,开篇营造的气氛到诗尾常常会被冲淡。而三行诗,由于体积小,读者可以一气读完,通篇思考,作品里的文字不会互相挤对,作品营造的效果不会上下冲淡。因此,由于三行诗更容易集中表现,它比之非三行诗就更具感染力。

那么,三行诗的感染力来自哪里呢?它的感染力来自作者埋设于文字间的丰厚内涵上。一首三行诗,如果仅仅只表达三行的含义,无论它文字多么优美,这首三行诗就没有了耐读性,没有了可思考性,没有了回味性。因此,在创作三行诗的时候,我们要把功夫用在对这种丰厚内涵的开掘、埋设、隐藏上。换句话说,要努力塑造一座冰山,让冰峰露出水面,把冰体隐藏在水底。如果你的冰峰能够激发读者去探索隐藏在它下面的丰厚山体,你的作品就成功了。

About the Author

Xu, Yingcai: - Yingcai Xu is a teacher, translator, and poet. The courses he has taught include classical and modern Chinese languages, classical and modern Chinese literature, Chinese cinema, Chinese calligraphy theory and practice, and Translation. He once went to teach at McMaster University, Canada, while taking Canadian literature courses there. Later, he came to DePaul University to study English and American literature, where he established the university's Chinese program. He has about a dozen translation books published. Some of them have turned to be government gifts and some university teaching materials. In translation, he has a three-word principle, accuracy, individuality, and cohesion. While trying to achieve an accurate rendering of the original text, he pursues the original spirit and a translation highly acceptable by mother-tongue readers. Besides, he has edited and co-edited nearly a dozen translation books. Yingcai Xu is also a poet. His poetry publications include Poetic South, Inspiration from Nature----Poems by Yingcai Xu in Chinese and English, and We Are Here Painting. He is now preparing to have a collection of haikus published. Yingcai Xu is also the President of the Chinese Poetry Association and editor-in-chief of Poetry Hall, a Chinese-and-English bilingual journal. His poetic philosophy is: to use simple, appealing, and imagination-evoking language to create vivid and poetic-sense-infused poems that come directly from the heart and the physical world and create a lasting and glittering effect of artistic conception.
