Two books in (A DRINK BEFORE THE WAR, DARKNESS TAKE MY HAND) I think that Dennis Lehane’s Kenzie and Gennaro might be my favourite fictional detectives. Stories that start within the confines of reality but aren’t afraid to go gonzo. He’s *very* good, isn’t he.
