About the Author

Scott, Peter T.: - Dr. Peter Terence Scott was born in Sydney, Australia and had a professional teaching career spanning over forty years. As a schoolboy and well into adult life, he was an active caver, hiker, climber and skier, becoming an Honorary State ranger and a trip leader in the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme. He studied at university part time and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, a Masters' Degrees in Exploration Geology and Educational Administration and later a Doctorate in Education. During this time, he also trained as an Army Reservist and was commissioned into the Infantry as a Platoon Commander. After eight years in the Army, he switched uniforms and became an Officer/Instructor in the Naval Cadets and commanded one of their training ships as well as having six training cruises aboard Tall Ships along the eastern Australian coast. He has travelled to many of the wilderness places of all six continents including the high Andes, North American Rockies, the Swiss Alps, the Amazon Jungle, the Antarctic Peninsula and the deserts of North Africa to name a few. He is the author of over twenty books including those listed here.
