A Practitioner's Guide to Adapting the Nist Cybersecurity Framework: Create, Protect, and Deliver Digital Business Value Series Volume 2

David Moskowitz

This is the second volume in the Create, Protect, and Deliver Digital Business Value series. It provides practitioners with detailed guidance on creating a NIST Cybersecurity Framework risk management program using NIST Special Publication 800-53, the DVMS Institute's CPD Model, and existing digital business systems. The outcome is a cyber risk management program and culture fit for use, auditable for purpose, and aligned with global cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and regulations. The key takeaway from this book is that securing digital business value is something every employee is responsible for doing every day. Cybersecurity is an intrinsic aspect of securing that value and must be factored into an organization's digital strategy and culture. A culture of cybersecurity starts at the top of an organization and is translated into strategic policies and training programs which are designed to embed that culture across the whole enterprise and its supply chain. The material in this book provides the rubric for the NIST Cybersecurity Professional (NCSP) Practitioner and Specialist courses. It presents the narrative that accompanies your course material.

About the Author

David Moskowitz is the content architect of the DVMS Institute. In this role, he actively looks for and works with subject matter experts to develop relevant content for the institute. David started his formal career as an operating systems programmer and systems architect, before going on to look at different forms of systems and complexity while serving in the US Army. After his military service, he continued to apply a systems approach to his job, working on an anti-submarine warfare program for the US Department of Defense. Dave Nichols is the executive director of the DVMS Institute. The institute's mission is to enable organizations to create, protect, and deliver digital business value through a curated portfolio of content and programs that bring value to its member stakeholders. Praise for this book

"This book offers the roadmap if you seek to go beyond cybersecurity and build a cyber-resilient organization that drives digital business value for all your stakeholders." --Patti Blackstaffe, CEO of the Strategic Sense group of companies: GlobalSway, Small Biz Creative, and In The Lead Seat

"The best aspect of the book is that it emphasizes the need to use systems thinking to understand the intrinsic complexity of creating, protecting and delivering digital business value, and offers compelling insights into why things should proceed differently from the way many (or most) organizations have approached cybersecurity. It is essential reading for business leaders who need to deliver digital business value - and that's every business leader." --Roy Atkinson, CEO, Clifton Butterfield, LLC
