After the Battle of Salamis, Artemisia is washed ashore on the beach of Ephesus, the land of the Amazons. Scarred by the remnants of war, Artemisia wanders through the desolate wilderness, where she finds an Amazon. Artemisia learns that her legacy is intertwined with the legacy of Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons. She also learns that a king is attempting to bring an end to the lineage of the Amazons. Haunting visions of the Amazons' glorious past compel her to preserve the Amazonian legacy. Artemisia aims to protect whatever remains of the Amazons and allow her name to sear itself into the world's memory.
