A toolkit for making things happen, proven in real-life situations from Afghanistan to the boardroom via Mount Everest.
Timothy Bradshaw has never won the Olympics or sold a multimillion-dollar business. He went to a reasonable school and attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Since then, he has served as a covert human intelligence officer, attempted to climb Mount Everest, summited the Matterhorn, completed a 70.3 ironman, cycled L'Etape du Tour, raced downhill on skis, ridden the Cresta Run and set up an international business training consultancy, all #BecauseICan.
As a director of Sandstone Communications Tim delivers keynote speaking and leadership training in over 14 different countries and to a global audience in excess of 5000 people annually. He has been listed as a leadership influencer by Linked In and LETG (Legal, Education and Training Group). His client base includes major global brands such as Knight Frank, Mercedes-Benz Middle East, Gateley PLC and Jaguar Land Rover. He has contributed to global in-house leadership development for Daimler Global and Gateley Plc.
He also sponsors aspiring young people striving to achieve their dreams, with 10% of all #BecauseICan profits going towards the cause.'
This was a surprisingly quick read...and yet, for being so "quick," it really packed a punch!
I loved the concepts of mapping out what-ifs in advance (with the caveat that it can all be shot "when things get real")...We often reserve the retrospective for events that didn't happen as expected, and...why is that? Seems like we could stand to study the events that go well so we can score more of them!
Developing a toolkit also intrigued me, with its emphasis on skillsets and use cases for outcome achievement (focusing more on the outcome and less on the process used to get there).
And, of course, the covid pandemic had to make an appearance. Bradshaw's company had focused on in-person, face-to-face training and events--so they had quite the opportunity to pivot, and quickly, when the world shut down in March 2020. Talk about putting the lessons he writes about here to good use, and to the test. The fact they succeeded is a testament that they work!
