According to FAO (2013), the availability of agricultural areas is concentrated in a few countries, with about 90 % of the land for agricultural expansion being located in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa. In Latin America, Brazil is constituted as a major global food producer and with high potential for expansion to its supply (SAATH; FACHINELLO, 2018). However, environmental concerns and the preservation of native forests have limited agricultural expansion, making the expansion of productivity present itself as an alternative for increasing food supply (SAATH; FACHINELLO, 2018).
