Special Edition Notes

Captive in the Dark (book one of the Dark Duet series) was originally published as an e-book and in paperback in 2011. Since then, it has been read by thousands of dark erotica/romance lovers and is considered one of the original contemporary dark romances that challenged the genre. It has been translated into seventeen languages and is an international bestseller. Out of respect for the original readers, edits have been kept to a minimum. This edition has been altered from its original publication as follows:

In 2018, a theatrical adaptation of Captive in the Dark was in talks to begin production. A rough draft of a screenplay was written and never published or utilized. A few scenes have been included where they may enhance the reading experience. These bonus chapters may be skipped entirely if preferred.

Typos and continuity errors have gone through editing.

The author has taken artistic license with some passages to enhance scenes, provide context, or improve content.

Praise for this book

"This series is the most incredible [redacted] I've ever experienced. Or something along those lines. Write whatever you want and slap my name on it. I loved it that much!" - Colleen Hoover, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author

"Listen, it's dark. It's steamy. It may go against some or many of your principles in life. It may make you want to get in your car and hunt people down, which is something that dawned on me after page 200 or so, and I was halfway to Mexico, fueled by emotions this author pulled out of me. "Dark" is right there in the title, so it's not like you haven't been forewarned. But CJ Roberts wrote some seriously addictive words that suck you in and make you flip the page over and over again like you're on a three-day experimental drug bender and you're not quite sure if you're coming down or still high (which I know NOTHING about either at all nope never.) Whatever. Put it on your Kindle and strap in." - Tina Reber, New York Times Bestselling Author

[...] "This book was gripping and flawlessly written. It immediately ripped me out of my comfort zone, made me feel awkwardly amazed, and caused me to question my beliefs and morals. It made me search for kindness in places I'd least expect to find it. It has opened my eyes to a horrible world that I, fortunately, know little about, and I fully believe that this was the story's true intent." - KC via Goodreads

[...] "5 Stars. It was sadistic.... it was traumatizing.... it was downright painful to read... But god, I loved it. Damn it all, I freakin loved this book. My first thought after finishing up this gripping story: Is there something seriously wrong with me? Why would I actually enjoy reading this book? Why do I think this is now going straight to my "favorites" bookshelf? Is my brain not working correctly? How could I possibly give this book 5 stars after seriously wanting to chuck my Kindle across the room? Well, I don't know if there is something seriously wrong with me... All I know is that this book captivated me from the very beginning to the very end." - Bayli via Goodreads
