About the Author

Solli, Piergiorgio: - Piergiorgio Solli, MD PhD has vast experience with chest trauma as Head of Thoracic Surgery at the National Trauma Center Hospital, Bologna, Italy. He received his medical degree from the University of Parma, Italy, followed by General and Thoracic Surgery residencies and a PhD in Cardio-thoracic Surgery from the University of Modena, Italy. He pursued Thoracic Surgery Fellowships at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, UK, and the Hôpital Pasteur CHU Nice, France.

He was a Staff Surgeon at the National Cancer Center in Milan, Italy, and a Consultant with the European Institute of Oncology. He was appointed Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, UK in 2014, and Chief Thoracic Surgeon Consultant at ASL Romagna, Italy in 2016. He is in numerous international societies, and has published over 200 scholarly articles on minimally invasive thoracic surgery, innovation in thoracic surgery, chest wall resections, and enhanced recovery pathways in thoracic surgery.

Scarci, Marco: - Marco Scarci, MD, FRCS(Eng), FCCP, FACS, FEBTS is a Consultant Thoracic Surgeon with the Imperial College Health Care NHS Trust (Hammersmith Hospital), London, UK. He has over 10 years of experience working in in Cambridge, London and abroad. His specialist training took place in Malta, as well as the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre and Guy's and St Thomas', London.
Following a six-month fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the University of Toronto, Canada, Dr. Scarci was appointed consultant thoracic surgeon at Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridge in 2011. He has written more than 130 academic articles on his areas of clinical interest, which include chest wall cancers, fractures, and chest wall deformities.
