Diamond Blues: An Inspector McLean Mystery

David W. Rudlin

A rare blue diamond goes missing in London. A terrorist bomb explodes in Mumbai. A feud between brothers turns lethal. A mistress lies to the police to protect her lover. And a New York diamond dealer is too busy fighting with his greedy client to notice the FBI closing in.In "Diamond Blues", Inspector Ian McLean of Scotland Yard flies to India to piece the puzzle together. Making his way through the brilliant colors, fiery tastes, and often indescribable smells of modern Mumbai, he meets a billionaire - the largest donor to Britain's ruling party and the self-proclaimed reincarnation of the Maharaja of Patiala - who simply wants his diamond back. Except nothing in India is ever simple.Dazzled by the storybook wealth but deeply disturbed by the abject poverty that lies right outside every door, McLean finds himself surrounded by a sea of corruption that threatens first his life, and then his soul.Written by David Rudlin, a 10-year veteran of De Beers, "Diamond Blues" brings together the author's first-hand knowledge of the diamond trade and his extensive experience in India. "Diamond Blues" is the second book in the Inspector McLean detective series.

About the Author

David W. Rudlin is a Tokyo-based executive, author and inveterate traveller with an unshakeable conviction that the secret to happiness is eating well. Born in the US in 1958, David attended Haverford College and Oxford University before spending almost all of his adult life abroad. He has lived and/or worked in the UK, Japan, Hong Kong, China, India, Australia, South Africa, Botswana, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, and half-a-dozen other exotic locales he is too lazy to pull out of the memory banks. He and his Japanese wife Kaoru have one child, Julia, who is carrying on the family fixation with food from the canyons of New York City. "Diamond Blues" is his second novel featuring Inspector Ian McLean, written after a 10-year career with De Beers.
