Interesting thread. I'd argue that it's precisely the tension between desacralized Protestant modernity & atavistic Catholic/Orthodox survival that is the engine of vampire lore. Very clear in Stoker's Dracula with contrast between London/Transylvania. https://t.co/P7fJf2abpk
