About the Author

I'm a Boston based strength coach. Born and bred in Ireland. I played Gaelic football and soccer while growing up and attended the prestigious Colaiste Ide in Dublin to prepare for a soccer scholarship to the USA. I played soccer at Thomas University in Georgia and was made team captain in my junior and senior years. I was honored to become an All-American in those same years. I graduated with honors and went on to coach high school and collegiate level soccer incorporating year round strength and conditioning techniques with great success. I moved to Boston in 2011 and went on to work at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning. I currently work at The Training Room where I train athletes, general population clients and the Boston Wolfe Tones gaelic football team. I wanted to provide a guide for budding student athletes from all over the world. Gaining a scholarship and attending school in the USA can be quite a process and there's a lot of things to be aware of as you start out on a new adventure like this. I was well equipped thanks to my time at Colaiste Ide under Jim Conroy. The "Association Football" course at Colaiste Ide is something else I address in the book and the benefits of having a course like this in existence.
