Johnston, D. McCall: - Originally from Owen Sound, D. McCall Johnston earned a bachelor of commerce in Montreal and then started working as a chartered accounting student when he came across an opportunity with the Northwest Territories government in Yellowknife. Moving there in 1969, he started a career that lasted twenty years and concluded in a position as an assistant deputy minister. During this time, he and his family lived in several communities, travelled extensively, and met and hosted many interesting individuals. He was also a reserve officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. In his last career, he returned to Owen Sound, and with his certified financial planner (CFP) designation, he established a financial planning practice, which he ran until retirement. This book is the result of the people he met, things he experienced and witnessed during his working life, as well as his active imagination.
Johnston's previous experience in writing was a book that he and his wife, Eldy, wrote chronicling her parents' experiences in a prisoner of war camp and deportation before arriving and working to make a new successful life in Canada.
Johnston, his wife, their three sons, and their families have travelled extensively throughout North America, the Caribbean, and Europe, including several visits to Hungary, his wife's motherland, and a recent trip to Tuscany, Italy.
