Christopher Benson, Arthur: - Arthur Christopher Benson, FRSL was an English essayist, poet, and professor who was born on April 24, 1862, and died on June 17, 1925. He was the 28th Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge. Among other things, he wrote the words to Edward Elgar's Coronation Ode and the words to the patriotic song "Land of Hope and Glory" (1902). People really liked his poems, articles, and reviews of other writers' work. He was also known for writing ghost stories. Bernard Benson was born on April 24, 1862, at Wellington College in Berkshire. He was the sixth child of Edward White Benson (1829-1896), who was the first teacher of the college and later became Archbishop of Canterbury from 1883 to 1896. His mother, Mary Sidgwick Benson, was related to the scientist Henry Sidgwick. Edward Frederic Benson, who is best known for his Mapp and Lucia books, and Robert Hugh Benson, who was a priest in the Church of England before becoming a Roman Catholic and wrote many famous books, were also brothers of Benson. Margaret Benson, their sister, was an artist, an author, and a self-taught Egyptologist.
