But then one day, the sun goes out. Solar panels are useless, and the world begins to freeze
Earth begins to fall out of its orbit.
The end is nigh.
Someone has sent us a sign.

Lives in Scotland & writes books. New novel JUMP CUT out autumn 2023 from Fledgling Press. Perthshire Gothic. Represented by Fraser Ross Associates.
Reading GALAXIAS by Stephen Baxter, which is absolutely wild - one day the sun just vanishes. I just love the epic scale of his books. MOONSEED begins with the destruction of a planet! Also Prince's Street gets taken out by a pyroclastic flow.
... or Halsey's Hyperspace Hall of Heroes. Taking down the trash fiction army one unit at a time.
Galaxias by Stephen Baxter. Standalone SF novel in which humanity encounters a galaxy-spanning intelligence. Grand scope, interesting futurology and some good ideas are let down by ponderous pacing and a plot that seems to consist of an endless series of political meetings

@curleyhammcozy This reminds me a little of one of my favorite books of the year - Galaxias by Stephen Baxter - it has that sort of clever, modern sci-fi vibe. Utterly utterly outstanding write!👏👏👏
Galaxias is an unapologetic thought experiment...the true protagonist here is Baxter's invented and inventive cosmology.
