Dr. Gurjit Kaur is Professor in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at the Delhi Technological University (DTU), Delhi, India. She has been a topper throughout her academic education. As a testimonial to the same, she has been awarded by Chief Minister S. Prakash Singh Badal for being the topper in Punjab state. After that, she was awarded a 'Gold Medal' by former President of India Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam for being the overall topper of the Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar in B. Tech program. She also received an Honour by Guru Harkrishan Education Society for being the topper among all the colleges and all the disciplines of PTU, Jalandhar. She then proceeded to PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh to complete her M. Tech in 2003 and also earned her Ph.D. degree from Punjab University, Chandigarh in 2010 with distinction.
She has spent over 19 years of her academic career towards research and teaching in the field of electronics and communication in well- reputed institutes like PEC University of Technology, Punjab University, Jaypee Institute of Information and Technology, Gautam Buddha University, and Delhi Technological University, Delhi. During this academic tenure, she has guided 4 Ph.D. students and more than 55 M.Tech students. Her research interests mainly include optical communication systems, optical networks, optical CDMA, wireless communication system, high- speed interconnect, and IOT. She has also authored five books at the international and national level. Her book, "Green and Smart Technologies for Smart Cities" was published by CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group in December 2019 and another book entitled, "Integrating Artificial Intelligence to Solve Pervasive IoT Issues" was published by Elsevier, Cambridge, MA, USA. Her three books, i.e., "Handbook of Research on Big Data and the IoT", "Examining Cloud Computing Technologies through the Internet of Things", and "Artificial Intelligence and IoT- Based Technologies for Sustainable Farming and Smart Agriculture" were published by IGI- Global, International Publisher of Progressive Information Science and Technology Research. She also authored a national level book entitled "Optical Communication," which was published by Galgotia Publications in 2005. She has presented her research work as short courses/ tutorials in many national and international conferences.
In recognition of her outstanding contribution as an active researcher, Dr. Kaur also received the Bharat Vikas Award by the Institute of Self Reliance in National Seminar on Diversity of Cultural and Social Environment at Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India & Prof. Indira Parikh 50 Women in Education Leader Award in World Education Congress, Mumbai, India in 2017. Her career accomplishments over the past sixteen years include over 90 peer- reviewed publications, including 55 journal publications, 35 conference publications, and over ten invited talks/ seminars. Due to her pioneer research, her name is also listed in Who's Who in Science and Engineering Directory, USA and her biography was also published by International Biographic Center, Great Britain as 2000 Outstanding Scientists.
She also worked as a convener for two international conferences, i.e., International ICIAICT 2012, which was organized by CSI, Noida Chapter and International conference EPPICTM 2012, which was held in collaboration with MTMI, USA, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, USA and Frostburg State University, USA at School of Information and Communication Technology, Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, India. She organized various FDPs and workshops. To date, she has delivered many expert talks on the emerging optical trends for all domain applications at various universities and served as a reviewer of multiple journals like IEEE Transactions on Communication etc.
Ms. Akanksha Srivastava is currently working as a Principal Investigator under Women Scientists Scheme- A (WOS- A) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) project in the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of Delhi Technological University Delhi, India. Before joining Delhi Technological University, she worked as a Women Scientist at the National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, H.P., India. She is pursuing her Ph.D. degree in the field of green communication systems from Delhi Technological University. She has received her B. Tech. degree in 2010 and M. Tech. degree in 2014 in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University Lucknow, India.
Apart from this, she has also served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at PSIT- College of Engineering, Kanpur, U.P., India.
Her current research includes green communication, energy efficient wireless networks, cognitive radio networks, next- generation networks, and heterogeneous networking. She has published several papers in various reputed International Journals and Conferences. She has contributed numerous book chapters with many publishers like Taylor & Francis Group, Elsevier, Springer, etc. She served as a reviewer for numerous journals and national/ international conferences. She worked as an organizing member for various conferences and workshops.
She has been awarded the Commendable Research Award from Delhi Technological University for her research work. She was selected as a Student Ambassador for the IEEEXtreme 14.0 coding competition from the IEEE Delhi section. She has been awarded for "India Innovation Challenge Design Contest- 2018" by Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Texas Instruments.
She is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE), IEEE Young Professionals, IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society, IEEE Internet of Things Community, IEEE Signal Processing Society and the International Association of Engineers (IAENG).
