Harbinger in the Night

John Warner

In the near future a new space race is in full swing to be the first to colonize Mars. The United States and allied European governments working alongside private industry are competing against the RSAC, a new Russian-Chinese alliance, to build working spacecraft to make the long journey.

In preparations for the mission, an engineering team from an aerospace/tech conglomerate is building out the interplanetary communications network, when a mysterious object emerges from the depths of interstellar space. As the nations of Earth scramble to investigate this strange comet, they must overcome plots from within and the machinations of a malignant AI in order to be the first to meet the menace, or the promise, that the intruder foretells.

Major Koda Cheveyo, a special operations soldier is tasked to lead his team to face this possible threat while Michael Thompson, a quantum computer engineer, works with his homebrewed AI to counter the emerging peril from within. Together with the help of a billionaire tech tycoon and a government security agent, their mission could reshape the future of humanity.

Praise for this book

One of the best sci-fi books I have read. Based on fact and science, not fantasy, it clearly creates a very probable, technologically sound vision of the future. And there are plenty of thrills and chills along the way. - Tim Rucinski of GoodReads

Harbinger in the Night is a must-read for die-hard sci-fi fans, especially those for which AI is of interest. However, the book is also for anyone who enjoys a great adventure story. At times the geekiness of the scientists is a bit difficult to understand, but the more problematic concepts do not slow down the story one bit. Nevertheless, this book is not for those who enjoy space fantasies filled with mysticism and bug-eyed aliens that speak perfect English. There is a smattering of violence, but nothing to dissuade most readers. - OnlineBookClub offical review

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from cover to cover. Being a software engineer and sci-fi fan, I appreciate how deeply the futuristic vision of humanity and artificial intelligence was developed. However, even for non-technical folks, there is more than plenty of character development and plot twists to sink your mind into, not to mention a great cadence of action packed scenes and suspenseful sequences mixed throughout the entire book. Absolutely worth your time and money. - Amazon Verified Purchaser
