Fans of ghost stories like The Haunting of Hill House and Hell House will love this book. - Horror Maiden

Myles Carver is dead. But his estate, Watermere, lives on, waiting for a new Carver to move in. Myles's wife, Annabel, is dead too, but she is also waiting, lying in her grave in the woods. For nearly half a century she was responsible for a nightmarish reign of terror, and she's not prepared to stop now. She is hungry to live again...and her unsuspecting nephew, Paul, will be the key.

Julia Merrow has a secret almost as dark as Watermere's. But when she and Paul fall in love they think their problems might be over. How can they know what Fate--and Annabel--have in store for them? Who could imagine that what was once a moldering corpse in a forest grave is growing stronger every day, eager to take her rightful place amongst the horrors of Watermere?

Praise for this book

Fans of ghost stories like The Haunting of Hill House and Hell House will love this book.--Horror Maiden
"I love reading books that have me on tenterhooks, as I am turning the pages waiting for something to figurally jump out at me and give me a fright and this book ticked the box. This is the 2nd book I have read by this author and I am looking forward to reading more of his work."--Terror Tree
"If you are a fan of Janz, you are going to love it. If you are not, then get on board the ghost train, you are in for a treat!"--Rachel Read It
"Janz' writing can turn on a dime. Lulling the reader into false security with actions as commonplace as a tiring drive on the highway, only to snap your head back with stomach curdling scenes of unnatural brutality."--An Average life
It will set your teeth on edge, it will give you goosebumps, it will make you cringe with the gore and gruesome, but most of all you will appreciate how a book can make you feel all of these things and still "enjoy" the storyline and want to know how it will end!--Zooloo's Book Diary
having read House of Skin, I really feel like this is the new age of horror--From Belgium with Book Love
One of the things I really like about Janz's writing is his ability in creating these very believable characters and then change them seamlessly--Aphotic Realm
This is an excellent read and I look forward to reading all of Jonathan's books--The Divine Write
As usual, Janz is just as adept at crafting complex characters as he is at making readers squirm...House of Skin has plenty of rich, dark meat on its bones, and Janz gives us lots to chew on along the way.--High fever Books
