What justifies the sentences of 10 to 15 years in prison for James and Jennifer Crumbley?

November 30, 2021, was the day of the Oxford High School shooting. Approaching 12:51 p.m., the gunman came out of a school restroom and started firing. The first hundreds of 911 calls came in about 12:52 p.m. to dispatch hubs. Hanah St. Juliana, 14, Madisyn Baldwin, 17, Tate Myre, 16, and Justin Shilling, 17, were the victims of the shooting. A teacher was among the seven additional people who were hurt.
James and Jennifer Crumbley were found by Detroit officials on December 4 inside an art studio located within an industrial building. The parents were said to have fled by the authorities once word spread that they would be charged. According to their attorneys, James and Jennifer Crumbley had no intention of fleeing. They were accused of four counts of involuntary manslaughter because of their role in the shooting.
