Interlacing of Days Gone By: A personal and historical memoir of childhood in Ginger Blue and Lanagan, Missouri
A century in the making, this book really begins with the opening of the Kansas City Southern railroad line. As the railroad grew it was imperative to its success that the communities along its route thrive. In 1915, one industrious KCS General Passenger Agent C. O. Williams purchased land at the most beautiful place along the route on which he eventually built The Ginger Blue Resort, a luxury resort and vacation getaway. In 1922, Betty Jeanne Corkins was a newborn when her family purchased and moved to the resort. As her story unfolds, it takes you back to a bygone age when train travel was the most efficient means of travel, and vacations lasted weeks not weekends. The words and images paint a picturesque vision of early Ozark life in Southwest McDonald County, Missouri. When Lynn Latty Mosby came on the scene in the middle of the last century, life was still very simple for the folks in the small, remote town of Lanagan just two miles north of the village of Ginger Blue. Lynn shares her memories and wonderful anecdotes of growing up in rural southwest Missouri and her connection to the resort. She relates how a deeply rooted passion for the beauty and rhythm of the area drew her home and led to the beginning of a new chapter in her life as owner of The Ginger Blue Inn. This is a story of a breathtakingly beautiful place most people have never heard of, but those who have been there will never forget the experience.
