The main character, Sonny Pop, was inspired by Leslie's three little sillies, who are so loving, creative, fun, adventurous, and free-spirited. Her grandchildren became her best critics and editors along the way, helping her hone the story and illustrations. It has been a loving adventure for everyone involved! Just The Way That You Are has become their top request at bedtime during sleepovers. Prior to becoming a book writer and illustrator, Leslie's career had been in the event and hospitality industries.
