Scott O'Dell nació en Los Ángeles en 1898 y, tras realizar sus estudios universitarios, ejerció diversos trabajos, especialmente en el mundo del cine y el periodismo. Como escritor, destacó poderosamente en el cultivo de la narrativa de aventuras destinadas a los lectores juveniles. Además del Premio Andersen y haber sido incluido en la Lista de Honor del IBBY, obtuvo la Medalla Newbery por este libro.




Scott O'Dell was born in Los Angeles in 1898 and, after completing his university studies, worked in various fields, especially in film and journalism. As a writer, he stood out prominently in crafting adventure stories aimed at young readers. In addition to the Andersen Award and being included on the IBBY Honor List, he received the Newbery Medal for this book.
