Every Thursday morning for two years, Azar Nafisi, a brave and brilliant Iranian teacher, clandestinely gathers seven of her most gifted students in the living room of her house to read forbidden books: works by Jane Austen, Henry James, Scott Fitzgerald and, of course, Vladamir Nabakov, the author of Lolita. While the young women little by little express themselves through books, they realize how their own lives are transforming and mixing with the plot of the works to which they dedicate themselves.
