Sarah drew on her own background in television news to create protagonist Jolie Marston, although the experiences depicted are not autobiographical. During Sarah's television career she was the producer of the major evening newscast at WHBQ (then the ABC-affiliate) in Memphis, the first woman to hold this position. She went on to produce newscasts as one of the original producers at CNN headquarters in Atlanta. She was later the executive producer of PM Magazine in Memphis. As an independent writer/producer/director, she created videos for a number of corporate clients and non-profit organizations. Later she headed the television department for the WA State House of Representatives. She has written for magazines (Billboard, American Cinematographer) and newspapers (Memphis Business Journal, The Olympian, USA Today). Her essays have appeared in The Seattle Times and on KPLU (NPR) radio in Seattle-Tacoma. She also is a poet and award-winning scriptwriter. A native of Athens in east Tennessee and a former resident of Memphis, Sarah now lives an unusual life on the haunches of Mt. Rainier in Washington state. Her home is on land in a national forest adjoining Mt. Rainier National Park. From a life of plugged-in creature comforts in Olympia, WA, she relocated to a cabin that was off-the-grid, away from even the possibility of connecting to a utility company for running water, lights or phone. Her husband's imaginative treehouses, including Cedar Creek Treehouse, have garnered worldwide media attention. Sarah owns and manages Cedar Loft Cabin at Mt. Rainier, a secluded eco-lodging in Ashford, WA just outside the national park (www.cedarloftcabin.com). She is writing the second book in the Jolie Marston series.
