Murm'rings of the Heart: A Collection of Poetry and Song Written to Inspire
I believe poetry engages a higher plane of human consciousness. It goes beyond the systematic processes that the human mind understands. It involves the logical processes that the human mind knows to execute. The forms of poetry are simply parts of the structure-the building blocks in the process of poetic creation. It is a cognitive process that engages the mind. However, if the poet uses this as the basis for his or her poetic creation, the result would be a physical product devoid of its soul or anima. It would lack the power to move people. This is because, in the process of creating poetry, the mind goes beyond what is cognitive into a higher and loftier realm of intuition for the human spirit to soar in height, and yet, delve deep within us into the core of our being. Poetry invokes or solicits its own muse, which belongs to a higher plane of human consciousness from which the poet draws inspiration to breathe life into his or her creation. All the preformed structures that had been created are simply receptacles to the overpowering and overflowing emotion that comes about when inspiration hits the poet. Through experience or mental discipline, every structure increasingly becomes less rigid so as not to pose as an obstacle but serve as an enhancer to one's artistic creation. If the cognitive processes of the mind harmonize with the higher plane of human consciousness that engages its emotional and spiritual facets, a masterpiece is born!
