Praise Report: The heart of each child shines through. The depth and magnitude of the poetry is felt. I marvel in the fact that so many of our youth appreciate and care about the environment and speak so highly of her. Through their powerful, intelligent and descriptive words, inspiration too is felt. I love how so many suggest solutions and offer ways or help. I finished the poetry feeling refreshed and inspired by our new generation of future leaders, environmentalist and citizens of the world. Zakiya Penny, Founder/Director Sabayet Inc. 'Nature and Future' is an uplifting piece of work full of hope for our planet. It is most inspiring because it was written by children who are placing an inter-generational call for action today to shift power towards tomorrow. I call these kids 'nature's future'. They are demanding a clean and green future in the most creative manner. It corrects the philosophical mistake which assumes that mankind is separate from our ecological system so we should subdue, use and destroy it. They rather call for preservation and conservation from both present and future generations. The children demonstrate a clear understanding of the principle of Ubuntu- respect for one's self, respect for others and respect for the environment. I highly recommend it to everybody especially children and young people who represent the hope expressed in the pages of this ecological beauty of poetry that choose people over profit and ecosystem over economics. About the Author
An environmental book written by kids! TREE Africa a not for profit enterprise in GHANA West Africa, aims to help transform children through interactive education, creative play, classical music and environmental responsibility. Our programs teach leadership skills. Nature & Future is written by 33 kids from 8 different schools in rural Upper East Region of Ghana. These young heroes in the community entered a writing competition and were selected among hundreds of entries to be featured in the 1st Edition of Nature& Future. The young authors wrote their feelings and opinions about nature and the environment. These children write with the heart and spirit of Africa with a universal language of love and concern for the earth. Thank you to the two USA students for their contributions.
