New Wine

John DeMers

Texas' prolific food critic, John DeMers brings his deep knowledge of Houston's restaurant business to life in New Wine, a fresh take on the novel that unites the flavors of thriller, romance and mystery. The sudden news of his father's death adds more rubble to Steve Laros' crumbling life, and his path suddenly begins to twist and turn. Pavement fades to stone and he travels from his upscale world in Houston, Texas to the Greek island of Delfinos, the place of his family's origin. Caught up in the journey Steve is able to forget his problems as he comes to know the inhabitants of the island, their ways, their food, their wine, and, ultimately, himself. But there is no prize that is not won at a cost--just as Steve seems to find a place that he belongs he finds himself at risk of losing it.Far-off places, mouth-watering food, and characters as full-bodied and vibrant as a Greek Xinomavro will satisfy fans of DeMers' Marfa novels and introduce new readers to his unique blend of genres.
